Elementary Curriculum
Responsive Classroom: an educational approach used throughout our school that focuses on a strong relationship between academic success and social-emotional learning (SEL).

Religion: Core religious program is taught daily in each class. Religion is integrated into all subject areas. Christian values in living, loving, and serving are emphasized. We follow the Diocese of Boise religion standards. Here is a link to them.

Additionally, every teacher has been trained in the Phonics First® curriculum, a program designed to help at-risk, struggling readers and aid students with dyslexia.

Science: FOSS is used to teach science. Each grade will do a hands-on science experiment in each trimester in the three areas of life, physical, and earth sciences.

Handwriting: Handwriting without tears is taught to preschool and pre-kindergarten.
D’nealian Printing is taught in K and 1st grade. D’nealian Cursive handwriting is taught in 2nd and 3rd grade. Students are expected to write all language arts assignments in cursive in 4th through 6th grade.

Music: A general music class is taught each week to grades K - 6. The Kindergarten and 1st grade classes focus on vocals. Second grade learns handbells. Third grade learns boomwhackers. Fourth grade learns recorders. Fifth grade learns ukuleles. Sixth grade learns percussion.
Students in grades 1-6 have the opportunity to sing in the Holy Rosary School Choir.
Art: All students receive one art lesson per month. This is supplemented with lessons from the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho.
Physical Education: Students in K-6th grades attend a PE class once a week. Students are required to dress appropriately and wear athletic shoes.
Technology: ISTE standards are used to teach technology. Students in K-6 are scheduled in the computer lab on a weekly basis. Integration of technology and computer use into the curriculum at every grade level exists for each classroom. We use code.org to integrate coding into our curriculum for 3rd-6th grades.
