Foundation History
Holy Rosary School will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2021! The Holy Rosary School Endowment Foundation was incorporated as an Idaho 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation in 1984 to promote Holy Rosary School and its long-term financial security. A primary function of this Foundation has been to build a financial asset base that can provide both short-term and long-term financial assistance, e.g., development of educational programs and the payment of tuition (e.g., contribution to HRS scholarships). Recently, the Foundation has undertaken a more energetic fund-raising effort with the goal to build an asset base that will help Holy Rosary School become a tuition-free school regardless of a family’s ability to pay the costs of a private school education.

Foundation Assets
HRSEF assets have grown from $578,000 in 2010, to $1,990,888.85 on November 30, 2020. These assets are invested with Merrill Lynch (ML) and are managed by a ML Certified Financial Manager (CFM) as per guidelines established by the HRSEF Board of Directors. This asset base has grown over the years because of the generous contributions from many donors, from special estate donations and from earnings and the positive growth in the value of our Merrill Lynch investment portfolio.
Support to Holy Rosary School
We are obligated by current IRS tax law to contribute approximately 3.5% of prior year assets to Holy Rosary School each year. HRSEF will contribute $57,000 in FY 2020 toward the 2020-2021 school year. The Foundation has contributed approximately $282,000 to HRS since 2010.

Charitable Contributions for IRA's
Using your IRA to make a charitable donation can help you lower your tax bill and help any charity you designate, as long as it is a qualified 501(c)3 organization, such as Holy Rosary School Endowment Foundation. This option allows you to make tax-free charitable donations directly from your IRA; you are then able to deduct the donation from your total declared income, which in turn puts you into a lower tax bracket and lowers your tax rate, as well. As always, we recommend discussing your specific tax situation with your tax advisor.
